These Whole Shell Mussels are fully cooked and therefore ready to eat once defrosted however, they can be reheated if desired.
Leave to defrost at room temperature for 2 - 3 hours or overnight in a refrigerator. Once defrosted, keep refrigerated and use within 24 hours.
To re-heat: Place mussels in a saucepan with their juices, either defrosted, or frozen. Cook over a medium heat, stirring until the mussels open, and natural liquor is released. Cook until liquid bubbles and the mussels are heated through. Add further stock, wine or beer to taste if preferred.
Discard any mussels that do not open. Pieces of broken shell may be sharp, please take care.
