- Preheat the oven to 180°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5. Skin the fish and cube. Peel 3 potatoes and slice them thinly. Put layers of fish and potato in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle each layer with salt, pepper, chopped onion and breadcrumbs. Beat 2 eggs into 450ml of milk and pour over (cream can be added if desired). Dot with butter and bake for 1 hour and serve with a fresh green salad.
